The Central Art Gallery is a dealer gallery in Ōtautahi Christchurch, Aotearoa New Zealand. We represent a number of contemporary New Zealand artists, from emerging to established practitioners, with a strong representation of artists based in Waitaha Canterbury.
Situated within Te Matatiki Toi Ora The Arts Centre in the Library building, between the North and South Quads, The Central Art Gallery offers a beautiful space to connect community and visitors with artists and their art through engaging exhibitions; permanent gallery displays; and interactive storage racks.
We believe experiencing artistic expression and appreciating art should be accessible to all, regardless of previous exposure, understanding, or artistic ability. Visual art has the power to elicit response, evoke emotion, communicate ideas, and connect people without relying on language. We see it everyday in the gallery!
