Jonathan Smart has been a Contemporary New Zealand Art Gallerist since 1988. Reopening the Jonathan Smart Gallery after the 2010 earthquakes highlighted both his commitment to Christchurch and to showcasing top drawer, contemporary visual art, ranging from painting and photography to sculpture and moving image.
Jonathan has a contagious energy and passion for art. The Central is an extension of his desire to educate, inspire and to bring the art he loves and enjoys to as many people as possible.
With an MA in Art History, experience as a free-lance writer and critic, teacher, and Churchill Fellow and over 30 years in the business of art Jonathan has the knowledge and experience to advise and support anyone who is interested in learning about, as well as investing in Contemporary New Zealand art.
