On Reflection is a new series of sculpture that is intriguing, playful and nostalgic in equal measure. Like much of Neil's work, it responds to site - using the windows of our old library space as its starting point. Then motifs such as chairs, I-Beams, clouds and boats, familiar elements from Neil's practise over many years, are floated and reflected within the space of each window. The works are fresh and engaging, and crisp in their cut steel profiles as they lean lightly out from the wall.

Neil has had a long personal association with The Arts Centre, it being the location of one of his early studio spaces (and of course to his first public art work "Echo") and the connection is really felt through these works. The “Steps” work in particular seems an astute and fitting reference to “Echo” and the long-standing history of the artist and this place.
