Provenance
Red is painted on the back of the work, creating a subtle red glow that bleeds out onto the base paper. It is intentionally subtle so the viewer may question whether it is actually the materiality or an optical effect created as a complementary colour play coming from the soft hint of green that is painted under the white gesso ground on top.The colour play, along with the compressed flatness of the work are two elements employed as the artist continues to explore the psychological relationship to place.
