Please join us for the opening of The Central's annual group show, this year titled, 'Sustaining the Local', on Thursday 18th June, 5.30 - 7.30pm.

Due to unprecedented and unforeseen circumstances of a countrywide lockdown, Aotearoa New Zealand has turned to ‘Sustaining the Local’, our local. The Central welcomes an array of new and familiar faces, delivering a high calibre of work.

You will find a new painting by Michael Hight, symbolising the Ashburton River / Hakatere region, delicate rendition of Bing Dawe’s family galaxiidae and Ōhinehou Lyttelton local, Asher Newbery, who’s works consider notions of life, astronomy and the earth.

Exhibiting artists include, Michael Hight, Asher Newbery, Bing Dawe, David Murray, Jon Jeet, Kulimoe’anga Stone Maka, Neil Dawson, Fiona Van Oyen, Pete wheeler, Emma Camden, Larisse Hall, Charrette van Eekelen and Simon Edwards.
