Lucy Dolan Kang's painting explores somewhat esoteric personal narratives through a broad range of symbolism, drawing connections that exist between the internal and external, the macro and the micro, and how these repeat through emotion, memory and consciousness. Whilst they are a reflection of her own individual interior world, she invites wider interpretation through the detail in her finely wrought imagery.
Since graduating with Bachelor of Design from Ara Institute of Canterbury in 2000, Lucy has exhibited throughout New Zealand in both solo and group shows.
She was the William Hodges Fellowship recipient in Southland in 2005. Her work is held in collection of The Southland Museum and Art Gallery and in private collections in New Zealand and internationally.
