Bold new paintings by emerging artists Rebecca J Spence and Malene Laugesen, alongside works by interdisciplinary artist Robyn Webster and ceramicist Robert Wagoner, explore the idea of threshold. Using expressionistic brushstrokes, Rebecca predominantly focuses on the meeting of land and water within the, natural and built, Ōtautahi and Waitaha environs. Malene explores liminal space created by the illusionary qualities and characteristics of light as it is reflected and absorbed by internal and external environments; often proposing refraction instead and the suggestion of visible space beyond the physical.
