John Walsh, Things Have Changed

The Central Art Gallery, 2 Worcester Blvd, The Arts Centre Te Matatiki Toi Ora.

John Walsh’s Things Have Changed is the artist’s first solo exhibition in Christchurch and well overdue after 40 years of painting. Born in 1954 in Tolaga Bay, Walsh is of Aitanga a Hauiti and New Zealand Irish descent. In part, he can be credited with reinstating landscape as a subject of significance to the visual arts, his painting reinvigorating and connecting it intimately to Māori conceptions of time and place, past and present. September 18 to October 10.
